Guided by high standards, continuous improvement, and a robust regulatory framework, the nuclear industry has a long history of managing its waste effectively and safely. Canada has a long-term plan to safely manage used nuclear fuel that will protect both people and the environment. As Canada launches a review of its own nuclear waste policy, this panel will examine different approaches for managing waste based on need as well as an international context to the common efforts in finding long-term solutions. Join the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), Radioactive Waste Management UK and Posiva from Finland to discuss public engagement, managing legacy waste and common approaches undertaken by various countries in developing policies and plans to build long-term solutions to nuclear waste management.
