Florida is one of the states to have a special type of church called Carpenter Gothic Churches, most of which were built between the late 1800 and early 1900's. Carpenter Gothic is a style of architecture that involves architectural details on wooden structures that try to replicate features that were originally carved in stone. In the early days, Florida had plenty of timber and also an abundance of house carpenters which wasn't as costly as stone or masonry. Among the features typical of Carpenter Gothic architecture are lancet windows and doors. Also is the typical steep gable roof, bell tower and pointed stained glass windows.
