On December 8th, 1941, the Japanese Empire began its invasion of the Philippines. By December 23rd, the American Army and Philippine Army agreed that the situation was untenable. Wishing to avoid the destruction of the city of Manila and her populace, the Allies abandoned it as an "Open City". From there, they engaged in WPO-3 (War Plan Orange) which entailed the long-term defense of the Bataan Peninsula. Until April 9th, 1942, the Allies held out for 99 days to ensure the halt of Japanese Expansionism throughout South East Asia. #military #history #militaryhistory #historyfacts #militaryfacts #ww2 #wwii #worldwartwo #worldwarii #worldwar2 #ww1 #wwi #woldwar1 #americanhistory #americanmilitary #filipinohistory #philippines #army #navy #airforce #coastguard #marines #nationalguard #spaceforce #armedforces #48hours #48hourschallenge #survival #survivalskills #secondworldwar #filipino #bataan #luzon #deathmarch #battle #war #callofduty #cod #battlefield #battlefield1942 #warzone #historylessons #dailyfacts #todayilearned #fact #facts #veteran #veterans #filipino #philippinehistory #warinthepacific #pacific #thepacific #bushcraft #geartest #equipment #reenacting #reenactor #reenactors #larping #larper #militaryuniform #outdoors #historylovers #historydocumentary #militarydocumentary #documentary #armysurplus #militarygear #militaryequipment #outdoorgear #outdoorskills #explore #discover #learn #adventure #strategy #philippinehistory
