I’ve been working out this concept out since I got a box of my old cassettes from my mom when she moved. Looking thru all the albums and mixed tapes from my childhood flooded back so many memories I knew I had to turn the nostalgia into art. The music we listened to in our formative years just hits different, right? If you’ve been following me for a minute, you might be able to tell I’ve been testing the components for an interactive music series. When I discovered Depeche Mode’s Violator as a teen, wowwwww. It had such a vibe. I used to lay down, close my eyes, and try and breathe in the cool. I’m pretty sure this copied tape was a back-up for my CD which I replaced MULTIPLE times. When I was going through my box of tapes and deciding which music to entrap in resin, my eyes immediately jetted to the resin covered roses and knew what I had to do. This is multiple days of work being shown allowing the Mas Epoxies Art Pro resin to cure between layers. I love how this piece becomes interactive w the placement of the Spotify code. When you scan the code the album trapped inside the resin plays! It looks pretty cool as a brick but we aren’t done yet. Stay tuned 😉 🖤🌹🖤 #interactiveart #90smusic #nostalgictunes #mixedmediaartist #resinarts #cassettetapes #
