Are you planning to visit Coyoacan and looking for ideas what to do in the neighborhood? Not visiting, but want to know more about Mexican culture and maybe visit in the future? This video is about one of the coolest neighborhoods in Mexico City. Coyoacan is an essential part of the city and you have to add it to your program. In this video, I’m covering most of the areas and things you can do in Coyoacan. I start from the history of this land, showing one of the oldest churches in Mexico - The Immaculate Conception Church or “La Conchita” and building where Cortes lived with his wife - Casa de La Malinche. Slowly moving back to the historical center and showing Parish of San Juan Bautista (Parroquia San Juan Bautista Coyoacan), Plaza Hidalgo and Jardin Centenario. Right next to it is Coyoacan Market (Mercado de Coyoacan) to try famous Tostadas Coyoacan! Next stop after walking thought the neighborhood is Frida Kahlo’s house. I’ve had bad experience visiting the museum and I explain why I don’t recommend going there if you don’t have a lot of time in CDMX. After that you will see another casa-museum which noone visits and which doesn’t have any lines to get in. This is Museo Casa de Leon Trotsky. House has many interesting details and nice inner yard. On my way to the other part of Coyoacan, I stopped by at plants market Viveros de Coyoacan. There is a very beautiful area of the neighborhood which is very often referred as an area where youo should just walk around and “get lost”. This is the area along Avenue Francisco Sosa. Across from cozy little park around Capilla de Santa Catarina I found unbelievable Casa de culture with gorgeous backyard. You can stop by there to drink coffee, enjoy nice shaded yard or wonder inside the colonial building. At the end of Avenue Francisco Sosa I talk about old Capilla de San Antonio de Padua and old stone bridge which is almost 300 years old. After a good walk, the last part of the video is about the street food options near historic centre. Tacos, elotes, meat and must have churros for dessert!
