Tsunami waves can reach impressive heights and speeds. In deep ocean waters, tsunami waves can travel at speeds of up to 500 to 800 kilometers per hour (310 to 500 miles per hour). As these waves approach shallower coastal waters, their speed decreases but their height can increase dramatically. Upon reaching the shore, tsunami waves can rise to heights exceeding 30 meters (about 100 feet) in extreme cases, though more commonly they are between 3 to 15 meters (10 to 50 feet). The largest recorded tsunami wave was caused by the 1958 Lituya Bay earthquake in Alaska, which produced a wave that reached a height of 524 meters (1,720 feet), though this was an exceptionally rare event. #tsunami #shortsvideo
