Fresh review of the Nomos Lambda 175 years Watchmaking in Glashütte. Now this is one very, very special creation. Let me tell you why! Size It has a 40,5mm steel case and a cordovan strap, which is basically horse leather. Movement The caliber is called the DUW 1001, which stands for Deutsche Uhren werke, or German watch works. And it was all developed and built in-house by Nomos. Now, all the marketing blabla aside, this is why you want an in-house movement. It looks so unique, so incredibly cool, this could only be done by an independent thinker. This really is the work of watchmaking excellence. It even has a great 84 hours power reserve, coming from two mainspring barrels. And it is regulated to chronometer standards. Price The watch we’re reviewing here is called the Lambda and the piece has been in the collection for a while now. Together with the Lux it comes from the high-end watchmaking atelier of Nomos. But the watch has always been available in always gold only, and priced over 10.000 euros, which I think is a bit steep for a Nomos. And that is why this Limited Edition is so special. It’s steel. And the price is 5,800 euros or 7,500 dollars. The design is made in the purest Bauhaus tradition, with the most minimalist expression a watch can offer. There is, however, a slight problem with that. If you’re going to make a minimalist watch, every detail has to be ab-so-lu-tely perfect. And that… is not entirely the case.
