VANILLA EXTRACT RECIPE: you only need 3 things to make vanilla extract at home: vanilla beans, vodka (or bourbon or rum), and something to put it in! You can find my vanilla beans, labels, and bottles in my Amazon storefront, linked in my bio. These make great gifts and will be perfect to give at christmas time if you make them now! They will be ready to use in January, but the longer they sit the better they get. INGREDIENTS: vanilla beans (1 bean for every 2 ounces of liquid), vodka, rum, or bourbon (I used vodka), and some bottles DIRECTIONS: cut your vanilla beans in half, then split them in half and pull them apart. I had 8 ounce bottles so I used 4 beans per bottle. Put the split beans in the bottle and cover with vodka. Give it a good shake, and label it. Put it somewhere cool and dark (I use my pantry), and gice them a shake every 2 weeks. Youll notice they get darker each time. They need to set for at least 3 months before using them (so if youre giving them as christmas gifts, you need to make them NOW!) but the longer they sit the better they get. Once you start using it you can strain the liquid from the beans if you want, but I dont recommend doing this because they will continue to infuse over time. As long as you keep it where it wont get hot, vanilla extract is shelf stable foe years. As long as it smells fine, its safe. #cooking #cookingathometiktoktv #cookingtiktok #recipe #recipes #easyrecipes #canning #canningandpreserving #canningtiktok #food #foodpreservation #delicious #homemade #homemadefood #vanilla #vanillaextract #vanillabean #christmastiktok #christmas #christmasgift #christmasgiftideas #christmas2024 #homemadevanillaextract
