NEW CARLISLE -- The Clark County Sheriffs Office announced Tuesday (Nov. 25) that a former New Carlisle pastor has been arrested in Texas. Sheriff Gene Kelly said in a press conference that Jerry Francis, 42, was arrested Monday in Temple, Texas. Detectives with Clark County and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation began an investigation in August into missing funds at the Great Hope Community Church. The audit revealed $67,000 missing. Sheriff Kelly said he received an anonymous tip who said Francis was planning to flee the country. I cant thank that citizen enough for giving me this information, said Kelly. The investigation alleges Francis stole tithes and offerings from the church over more than three years. Francis faces one count of felony theft in Clark County. He is expected to be extradited back to Ohio by the U.S. Marshals.
