What happens to your pension when you move job? When you leave a job it’s likely you’ll leave behind a company pension. For each job you have had, you’ve probably contributed towards a workplace pension scheme with that employer. When you leave the job, your contributions to that pension fund will cease. However, it doesn’t mean you’ll lose that pension, it will still be there, so make sure you keep an eye on it. Your options for that pension will depend on the type of scheme it is - whether it’s defined contribution or defined benefit. And the best thing to do is to speak to the pension provider to find out what your options are.
