Former US vice president Kamala Harris took a swipe at Elon Musk after a Democratic-backed candidate won a pivotal seat on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court on Tuesday night, April 1. Susan Crawford defeated Brad Schimel in a race where Elon Musk personally spent $25 million. According to The New York Times, Musk underwrote an $11.5 million ground game through his super PAC, which targeted voters with messages urging them to help Trump by supporting Schimel. A separate organization with Musk ties spent $7.7 million on television advertising, according to AdImpact, a media-tracking firm. Musk also offered Wisconsinites $100 each to sign a petition in opposition to “activist judges”, The Times reported. By election day on Tuesday, his super PAC was offering voters $50 to post a picture of a Wisconsin resident outside a polling place. When Crawford’s victory was all but confirmed Harris posted a number of videos to her social accounts with one directly referring to Musk, but not mentioning the Tesla and SpaceX CEO by name. “There is an unelected billionaire who should not and will not have a greater voice than the working people of Wisconsin,” Harris said.
