A bead loop is an alternative to using a thread guard for the top of your earrings (and vise versa). The bead loop is where you hook on your earring hook! I’ve used red beads as a contrast in this video, but normally you’d use the common color of your earrings, or you can use this as a design choice. Thread guards and bead loops are interchangeable. I’ve found that both work great and they each add a different flare to your project. A common concern is the strength of a bead loop, and while I still believe a thread guard will be a bit more durable, a bead loop created with proper materials and technique will withstand the test of time. I have a pair of fringe earrings my mom made over 30 years ago and the bead loop is still going strong!
