Construction on the 19-mile tunnel is just beginning, but The Boring Company is already seeking approval to expand the project, proposing an additional two miles of tunnel under Broadway, first reported by the Nashville Business Journal. This would be separate from the Nashville International Airport Loop to the Capitol. Dozens of community members, including myself, submitted questions to The Boring Company ahead of its online, audio-only forum hosted by company president Steve Davis. One of the biggest questions asked was, "Why begin construction on a new project before completing the first?" During the forum, Davis shared updates on the Music City Loop’s construction timeline and confirmed that the company intends to pursue approval for the Broadway extension. However, he did not answer why Boring wants to add this component before finishing the initial tunnel.
