Many people love investing in both Vanguard Index Funds and Fidelity Index Funds, but few people are aware of the fact that both Vanguard and Fidelity BOTH OFFER Sector Exchange Traded Funds, or ETF's, which are index funds that track a specific sector of the U.S. economy and track an index that follows that sector of the economy. WHAT IS THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECTOR? The information technology sector is a segment of the U.S. economy that is the collection of companies here in the United States that focus on Information Technology businesses, such as Application Software, Communications Equipment, Electronic Equipment & Instruments, Internet Services & Infrastructure, Technology Hardware, Storage & Periphera and many others.
