NOTE ON HOW I USE BOOKS: I filmed the books because I wanted to signal to you my research is grounded mainly in respected and published books. I hope they serve like citations in an essay. I left captions in the shot so you could pause and read them if you wish. Listed below are the books I used. Fashion: The Definitive History of Costume and Style ISBN: 978-0-7566-9835-5 (This book is the one with timelines with dates, edited by the Smithsonian.) How to Read a Dress: A Guide to Changing Fashion from the 16th to the 20th Century by Lydia Edwards ISBN: 978-1-4725-3327-2 (This book has the dates and descriptions on the top of the page, with lots of descriptions about the outfit.) Fashion: A History from the 18th to the 20th Century ISBN: 978-0-7607-8202-6 (This book has the rest of the book photos, the full page photos, edited by the Kyoto Costume Institute.) My Fashion History series is all about hitting the important highlights of 20th century fashion that every fashion professional should know to have a good working vocabulary of visual references. It's more of a general overview than a deep dive. This video covers 1900-1920: La Belle Epoque, Edwardian fashion, the Gibson Girl, Orientalism, the effects of World War I, and some important designers of the day: Paquin, Patou, Chanel, and Poiret.
