The Boring Company has unveiled a proposed route for the Music City Loop, a high-speed underground tunnel that would connect downtown Nashville to the airport in as little as eight minutes. The 10-mile route would start at a state-owned parking lot near the state Capitol, run beneath 8th Avenue South, stop at the Music City Center, continue along Murfreesboro Pike, and end at Nashville International Airport. Leaders at the Music City Center say having a station at their location could be a major boost for conventions and events. President and CEO Charles Starks called the discussion “exploratory,” but told the board it would be “crazy” not to take advantage of a stop so close. At Thursday’s Convention Center Authority Board meeting, the plan was presented, but no action was taken. Meeting minutes will be made available online within a week. The Boring Company also addressed potential challenges and their proposed solutions. The Music City Loop would be fully privately funded, with no local tax dollars, according to The Boring Company.
