Growing up in Land Mine infested Cambodia then moving to the far off country of Canada at age 13, Richard Yim shares how he learned the first and greatest step to change the world: Take Action. Richard recants how his childhood experiences selling stickers to buy chicks, his marketplace playground and his move to a foreign landmine-less land brought him the insights that has led him to his social venture today: building autonomous robots to fight land mines. He shares his story in hopes that you to may change the world by engaging that vital first step: Taking Action. Mechanical engineering Alumni Richard Yim is the force behind Landmine Boys, a venture dedicated to developing robots that defuse landmines without using TNT, which greatly reduces the danger for people involved in this typically hazardous field. Richard’s story is a true testament to the amazing things that can happen when technology and social welfare intercept.
