Hansestadt Lübeck (Danish: Lybæk) is a Northern German port city in the State of Schleswig-Holstein, about 65 kilometers Northeast of Hamburg. Lübeck's listed old town is located on a ridge between the rivers Wakenitz and Trave, which connects it to the Baltic Sea at Travemünde 15 kilometers further north. Lübeck is the second largest city in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Lübeck is also called the city with the seven towers after the church towers that dominate the silhouette of the old city. The Hanseatic city of Lübeck was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
