Here are some safety tips for young people and their family, on how to act before, during, and after floods. Flood events in the Western Balkan countries have caused serious damages in the past years, sometimes putting at risk people’s life. According to climate projections, hydrometeorological risks, including floods, will increase even more in the future as a result of changing patterns of precipitation and temperature. On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is supporting partners in the four countries of the Drin river basin (Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia) to develop a flood forecasting system for the whole Drin River Basin, to improve early warning, and to increase public awareness on floods among the affected communities.
