The Babadook rubs a lot of people the wrong way as soon as the movie starts, including myself. It took me two tries to get through it and I'm so happy I gave this one another chance. Other people are turned off by Amelia's behavior as a mother but writer director, Jennifer Kent, was unapologetic about approaching such a taboo subject that many parents suffer through. This movie shows that those feelings are completely normal and there's help out there should people seek it.
