The feature is part of the 2024.27.20 software update, which also includes Full Self-Driving version 12.5.3. Originally launched in 2019, Smart Summon allowed Tesla vehicles to navigate parking lots autonomously, but its performance was inconsistent. The new ASS feature is designed to be more reliable, utilizing Tesla's Vision system instead of Ultrasonic Sensors. It can now not only come to you but also drive away and park itself, a function previously referred to by Elon Musk as "Banish." Currently, ASS is available only for vehicles equipped with Tesla’s latest hardware, HW4/AI4. However, it is expected to be rolled out to older models soon.
