Chinese government has allowed couples to have up to three children with the new three-child policy in the nation which marks a huge shift from the two-child policy strictness persisting for the last four decades. However, due to the limitations in childcare options, there are less number of people who are eager to go for this option. According to a recent survey and analysis on the birth rate of China by Jefferies Financial Group, although there is seen a downward graph of the birth rate in China in recent years, this year has been recorder with the lowest birth rate till now as pregnancies and conceiving plans have been put to hold due to concerning matters over medical support, safety issues, and Covid-19 vaccine security. As per China's population census in May, there has been a drastic downfall in the nation's total fertility rate. As seen from the reports of 2018, the average number of children by each woman was 1.7 which has dropped to 1.3 in 2020, marking population decline as it is below 1.5 standard mark.
