A dangerous earthquake has struck Tibet, affecting India and Nepal as well. Earthquakes are quite common in Tibet. However, this earthquake was the most powerful one in the past 5 years. On January 7th, at 6:35 AM, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake occurred in Tibet near the Nepal border. Its epicenter was in Tingri County. According to reports, more than 126 people lost their lives in Tibet, and over 180 people were injured. In Tingri County, over 1,000 buildings were also damaged. Back in 2015, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck Kathmandu, Nepal, killing over 9,000 people. So far, no major damage has been reported in India from this earthquake. However, in Nepal, some people sustained injuries, and around 10 houses were damaged. Given the damage caused by this earthquake, a base camp on Mount Everest has also been closed because tremors were felt there as well.
