Do not use vinegar as a laundry detergent replacement!  By mass / weight, body oil is the number one stain on your clothing (us humans sweat A LOT and produce about 40 grams of sebum (body oil) every day). Oil needs a surfactant to surround, capture and wash away oil. Unfortunately, vinegar will not help with oil removal.  Vinegar is great for removing acidic stains like coffee, tea, berries, and wine but it's extremely weak against greasy stains. Vinegar is also a lovely rinse aid to help dissolve leftover residue and 'soften' clothes.  If you only use vinegar and water, you should expect your clothes to start smelling over time as your garments will become a breeding ground for malodor causing bacteria (bacteria causes body odor, not you).  I hope this helps and happy cleaning -z For more laundry tips and tricks check out my AI: askjeevesny.com You can support me and my family's business by throwing us a sub or purchasing our cute little laundry book (makes for a great last minute gift):
