Tired of your dog running out the door or jumping all over the food delivery person? We understand how chaotic these wild door antics can get. At our Yonge and Eglinton location recently, our instructor Roberta practiced the 'Down Stay' behavior technique with this puppy. Here's how you can turn chaos into calm by training your dog 'Down Stay' superpower! ✨🐾 👉 Start by teaching your pup to lie down and stay put without any distractions. Gradually, add more time, handling visitors, or when your pup's out for a walk. 👉 Ready for the next step? Introduce 'Down Stay' under distance, time, and distractions. Keep it simple, practice each part separately, then blend smoothly. 👉 Go easy on your pup, take it slow, and reinforce them positively for their good behavior. 👉 We're all about positive reinforcement! Dive into the 'Down Stays' magic in our Foundation Skills Module 4. We closely practice the techniques with your dogs and see if the dog makes a mistake and pops up, we look at whether we made the exercise too difficult, and lower the difficulty to get back to a place of success, and build up from there. Result? A happy, well-behaved pup always ready to stay put on cue. Curious about our Foundation Skills Module?
