South Africa's World Test Championship-winning squad received a warm welcome in Johannesburg as they returned home on Wednesday. The 'Proteas' completed a five-wicket win over defending champions Australia in the final at Lord's last Saturday, sealing a somewhat unlikely victory after chasing down a target of 282 runs in their second innings. Fans flocked to OR Tambo International Airport to greet the squad, singing, dancing and taking the chance to meet players as captain Temba Bavuma held the World Test Championship mace aloft. Bavuma, who formed a crucial 147-run third-wicket partnership with centurion Aiden Markram in the second innings at Lord's, later told media: "We've been able to achieve something like this, but we're even more happier and prouder that we've made our people proud."
