The 2024 Women's T20 World Cup was set to begin on October 3rd, originally to be hosted by Bangladesh. However, due to violent protests in Bangladesh over the past two months, the ICC is looking to change the venue. As a result, when the ICC asked BCCI to host the World Cup, Jay Shah declined the offer. Due to this, the ICC is now searching for another host, with countries like the UAE showing interest. The UAE has good facilities and is keen to host the event. Jay Shah cited the reason for not hosting the World Cup in India as the monsoon season, which will be ongoing in October. Additionally, India is already set to host the 2025 Women’s World Cup, and they do not want to send the message that India is looking to host back-to-back World Cups.
