Update (2025): Standard USB thumb drives wear out fast with Tesla Dashcam/Sentry because they’re writing nonstop and heat up. An SSD handles the constant writes way better and lasts longer. Recommended drive: Samsung T7 1TB Portable SSD 👉 https://amzn.to/41PmLww Unfortunately the Tesla dashcam is sometimes unrecognizable. After chatting with Tesla, they said a software update would address it—so we wait. In the meantime, this temporary fix works for me: Quick Fix Directions 1. Unplug the USB drive in the glovebox 2. Wait 15–30 seconds, plug it back in 3. Repeat if needed (usually works within 1–3 tries) 4. Make sure Sentry Mode is turned back on If you switch to the SSD above, format it in-car: Controls → Safety → Format USB Drive (exFAT), then enable Dashcam + Sentry.
