Jesse here with etrailer. Today, we'll be taking a look at and I'll show you how to install the etrailer custom fit trailer hitch receiver on our 2025 Nissan Frontier. Adding a hitch to a smaller truck like the Frontier really makes a lot of sense. It's gonna give you the ability to add some extra storage space onto the back, whether it be something like a cargo carrier or a bike rack, or you can even do some towing with it. Just remember, if you're planning on doing any kind of towing with your truck, you will need to add on trailer wiring to keep you safe and legal out there on the road. I like the Tekonsha Kit. It seems to be the easiest to install. You just simply plug it in, add some relays, and you're ready to go. Here's a closer look at our hitch. I really like the way the etrailer hitch looks with that matte black paint. Seems to match the rear bumper on our frontier very well. And the cross tubes are gonna be hidden behind the bumper, so all you'll see is that receiver opening, which is your standard two inch by two inch opening. Behind that, we have another standard 5/8-inch pinhole. The pin and clip do not come included with the hitch. However, we have many options available, here at etrailer. Also, any accessory that you add on will most likely come with one included. We have a wire-type safety cable loop, very easy to access with whatever style of safety cable you have. For example, this large clevis or an S-style like this. Now, we'll take some quick measurements. We'll start with our ground clearance. From the ground to the top of the inside of the collar is at about 16 1/2 inches. So any ball mount or accessory that you add on, you wanna look for one with just a slight rise to it. Then from the center of our pinhole to the edge of our bumper here is right at four inches. Keep that number in mind for any folding accessories that you might add on to make sure they don't make contact with the vehicle. And for the weight capacities with this hitch, we have a gross trailer weight of 5,000 pounds. That's the amount of weight that you can pull behind the vehicle. And we have a maximum tongue weight of 500 pounds. That's the amount of weight pushing down on the hitch. You do have the option to use weight distribution with this hitch and those numbers will bump up quite a bit. Your gross trailer weight goes up to 8,000 pounds and your maximum tongue weight goes up to 800 pounds. Always be sure to double check your owner's manual to ensure that your vehicle can handle that weight safely. All in all, if you're looking to add a hitch to your Frontier, in my opinion, this is the best-looking hitch that you can get for it. It also has some pretty good capacity numbers, so you really can't go wrong with it. If you have any questions or concerns about this hitch or anything else we offer here at etrailer, feel free to reach out to us. We'd be happy to get you pointed in the right direction. As for the installation, it's honestly one of the easier hitches you can do. You will have to have maybe an extra set of hands to help you lift the weight of the hitch up and get the hardware started. So if it's not something that you're looking to do yourself, check out our dealer locator. We can find someone local to you that would be happy to help you get it installed. If you are looking to see how this gets put on, then follow along and I'll walk you through the process. We'll begin our installation underneath our truck. We want to identify our well nuts that we're actually installing the hitch on. So you'll see three threaded holes on both sides. And depending on the age of your truck, you may have some rust and corrosion built up. So I like to take a wire brush, clean all that out, and then I follow it up with the hardware, thread it in and out, make sure it's nice and smooth 'cause when we're lifting the weight of the hitch up above us, we don't wanna be fighting those threads. Since I have the hardware here, we'll talk about it. Each one of those well nuts will get a bolt and a conical tooth washer. We want those teeth to be facing towards the hitch so that it bites down and holds on. I'd recommend grabbing an extra set of hands to help lift the weight of the hitch. I have my friend Scott here to help me out. (hitch clanging) We're gonna lift it
