Air occupies space because it is made up of particles that have mass and take up space. Even though these molecules are far apart compared to solids or liquids, they still exert pressure on their surroundings because they are constantly moving and colliding with surfaces. This motion causes air to fill any container it is in, no matter the shape, because the particles spread out to evenly distribute themselves. Essentially, the volume of air is the space needed for all these moving particles to exist and interact, which is why air can’t be compressed into zero space without applying force. 📷 credits: heavenlyouds #science #physics #learning #facts #explained
