NEW CARLISLE -- Folks braving the cold New Year's Eve to ring in 2015 at the 6th annual ball drop. The crowd was slow going on Main Street, most likely due to the freezing cold, and didn't quite reach the 2 thousand people expected. The ball goes up in the last moments of 2014, and will fall in the first moments of 2015. "It's all for them. Everything everyone does here is all for the kids, for the future generations," David Sowers of the organizing team said Wednesday (December 31st, 2014). With hot chocolate and good company in tow some folks are stuck around in the frigid temps. "Despite the cold I still think it's going to be a great time with the kids and family to be together," Crystal Sowers of New Carlisle said with a smile Wednesday night. At midnight the 7 1/2 foot ball dropped over 100 feet in the air to signify one thing: 2015 is here.
