She completed a family medicine internship at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa, Texas, and a family medicine residency at the University of Wyoming in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She is board certified in family medicine. Dr. Melendez worked at Salud Family Health Centers in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She also worked at Denver's La Clinica Tepeyac, Inc., where she served as the chief medical officer before she joined SCL Health Medical Group in 2017.
