Before purchasing Hunter Douglas blinds, shutters or shades, measure to make sure they will fit the depth and width of your window frame. When inside mounting window treatments such as blinds and shades, it’s important to fit the window treatment fully within the frame to eliminate light and privacy gaps. Most manufacturers suggest at least 1/2 - 3/4 inch window frame depth at minimum to inside mount any shade, but some blind and shade fixtures require a deeper window frame for a true inside mount that does not stick out beyond the frame. Windows with a deep recess (around 3.5 inches) can accommodate an inside mount for just about any type of shade or blind, but most windows are not that deep. When outside mounting window treatments, make sure the shade or blind extends across the windows, not just the fixture base, to ensure full window coverage. It’s recommended that you purchase shades and blinds that measure 3/4 - 1.5 inches beyond either side of your window frame.
