We are all about safety and security here at Cronin Insurance and here's a some tips from the National Safety Council to keep your kids safe this school year. Whether children walk, ride their bicycle or take the bus to school, it is extremely important that they take proper safety precautions. If your children walk to school by themselves, make sure they walk with a group. Remind them to cross the street only at the intersection and to walk and not run. This will keep them from falling and also give time for drivers to see them. If they ride their bike, make sure they wear a properly fitted helmet. Tell them to ride in single file and on the right side of the road- stay on the sidewalk if possible. If they are riding early in the morning or later in the evening, have them wear bright clothing and make sure the reflectors and lights are working properly on the bike. If they take the bus, remind them to wait at least 6 feet from the curb and make sure the Driver can see them. If they drop something getting on the bus, make sure they tell the driver before picking it up. On the bus, never put heads, arms, and hands out the window, and keep the aisles clear of books and bags.
