How To Take Sharp Photos by using the reciprocal rule to choose the right shutter speed. Go to https://kit.co/barrycallister for all the gear I use. The Reciprocal rule states that you must use a shutter speed equal to or greater than the focal length you are shooting at to take sharp photos hand-held. So, if you have a 50mm prime lens, then you should shoot at 1/50th of a second or faster to get sharper images. As with all rules, it is made to be broken and you can take better pictures if you ignore the rule - you will just have more success, more of the time if you follow it. If you have been wondering why your photos are not sharp, then this could be one reason.
