Every week, I set aside $20 and scour my local area in search of any culturally/historically significant, valuable, or just plain COOL items I can save from a landfill bound fate. This week started strong with my favorite find: Silver! This sterling necklace pendant is worn as a keepsake or "prayer box" with a tiny storage compartment that clicks open and shut. The concept of keeping prayers or wishes in containers is ancient, with examples found in various cultures, including the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Next, I found something that looked straight off of a movie set! It's a physician's bag! Also known as a "Gladstone bag." These leather bags were an essential and symbolic tool of early medicine. It allowed physicians to carry necessary medical instruments and supplies for exams and treatments, which were mostly done at home visits during this time. I've always wanted one of these for my collection but never find them in such good condition! The leather is well over 100 years old and still has a lot of life left to give! I'm so excited about this find 😍 Lastly, I picked something up that some of you may find to be a bit questionable. 2 mini bottles of Ralph Lauren perfume. They smell delightful and subtle, and they were produced in the last 3 years! I always recommend checking your fragrances beforehand and even doing a tiny test swatch on your skin before using. As always, try at your own risk. This is just what I do 💛 What was your favorite find this week? I would love to hear your thoughts below 💛 #thrifting #thrifthaul #goodwillbins #resellercommunity
