German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is counting on undecided voters to help him close a big gap to the poll-leading conservatives before the Feb. 23 election. Unless he pulls off a dramatic turnaround in the next few days, Scholz is on track to lead the Social Democrats to their worst post-World War II election result. Voter support for Friedrich Merz’s CDU/CSU bloc is at around 31%, with the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) in second place at about 21%, according to the latest Bloomberg polling average.
