Hi everyone! In today’s video, I’m bringing a little piece of Manipur back into my kitchen. If you’ve watched my Manipur travel vlog, you’ll remember a beautiful, simple dish called Sana Thongba — a light, flavorful paneer curry that truly stayed with me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I decided to recreate it at home and share it with all of you. This dish may look humble, but it’s full of warmth, tradition, and love — just like the people I met on that journey. With love, Amrita 💛 Sana Thongba (Paneer Curry) Paneer cooked in light milky gravy Ingredients: 250-300 gms Paneer cubed (Indian cottage cheese) 1/2 Cup Green Peas 2 Cups Milk 1 Tsp NigellaSeeds /Kalonji. 2-3 Bay Leaves 1 tbsp freshly grated ginger or ginger paste 1 handful garlic chives or (1 medium size onion) 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder 2-3 Green Chillies (chopped) Salt 2 tbsp Oil 1 tbsp ghee (Clarified Butter for shallow frying the paneer) For garnish 1tbsp ghee Freshly chopped chopped coriander leaves Method: Cut the Paneer into small cubes(very important) In a pan add oil or ghee and shallow fry the paneer lightly until golden brown on both the sides. Once done, add the paneer pieces in salted water for 4 to 5 minutes. Now in the same pan, add 1 tbsp. oil. Add in the bay leaves, nigella seeds, followed by the grated ginger. Once fragrant, add the chopped garlic chives. Once the garlic chives turn lightly crispy, add green peas and sauté for 2-3 minutes on low flame. Now add turmeric and salt and cook for another minute or so. Then add milk, water and salt. Increase the heat and bring the mix to boil, then reduce the flame and keep stirring till the milk is cooked. Then add the paneer and simmer until the gravy thickens, 4-5 minutes approximately.
