He Studied from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras as an aerospace scientist who strived to become the President of India by his shear hard work. He was known as Missile Man of India for his work on the ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. He also played an essential technical role and political role in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear test in 1998. Dr. Abdul Kalam served as the Chief scientific Adviser to the Prime Minister and Secretary of the Defence Research and Development Organization from July 1992 to December 1999. In 1969 Dr Kalam joined Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) where he was the project director of India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III) which successfully positioned Rohini satellite in space. His research and educational leadership brought him great appreciation and honour. At DRDO he was responsible for the advanced missile programme of India which developed advanced missiles like Agni, Prithvi, Nag, Akash and Trishul. Dr Kalam became the 11th President of the Republic of India on 25th July 2002 and third President of India to be awarded as Bharat Ratna. He also earned the title of the People’s President and served the office till 2007. He is also known for his writing and has written many books like Wings of Fire, India 2020 – A Vision for New Millennium, My Journey, Ignited Minds etc. which have become household names.
