Senator Jinggoy Estrada rejected accusations linking him to alleged anomalies in flood control projects after former DPWH assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez implicated him during a House tri-committee hearing. In a privilege speech at the Senate plenary on Wednesday, Estrada said his name was “maliciously and intentionally dragged” into the controversy, accusing Hernandez of feeding lawmakers with fabricated claims. “He [Hernandez] needed to level up. Since he failed to get past our Blue Ribbon Committee, his lies were not enough to cover up and save himself,” Estrada remarked. Hernandez had earlier named Estrada and Senator Joel Villanueva in the supposed kickback scheme.
