So after a lot of research into what the best index funds for 2020 were I found the funds that I talk about in the video. I base how good they are on their expense ratio (the fees), their returns and also their diversification. The best index funds for 2020 in my opinion are the following: 1) Total Stock Market (ETF) – VTI: Fee: 0.03% | 5 Year Avg: 13.84% Very large diversification across strong market (USA) 2) Total Bond Market (ETF) – BND: Fee: 0.035% | 5 Year Avg: 4.41% Less risky than stocks for sure but this fund still has decent returns as far as bonds go. Returns are lower due to the near 13 year bull market but a good asset during the long overdue market correction 3) Total International Stock Index Fund – VXUS: Fee: 0.08% | 5 Year Avg: 5.95% Although there are higher fees and lower returns than some of the others, this fund offers a wide diversification over a wide range of countries and economies outside the USA, perhaps a wise investment due to the amount of money the US is printing and rising political tension there... 4) Social Index Fund Admiral Shares – VFTAX: Fee: 0.14% | 5 Year Avg: 16.67% This fund is quite recent and although it has a higher expense ratio it compensates with higher returns. The VFTAX is the same sort of fund as the VTI but only includes socially responsible companies (that are sustainable and have an eye for the environment among other things) and it is therefore not very surprising to see high returns as the world shifts towards more responsible companies. Fidelity Funds can be just as good if not better! These are some of the equivalents: 5) Fidelity 500 Index Fund (FXAIX) (S&P 500 Tracker) 6) Fidelity U.S. Bond Index (FXNAX) ( Bloomberg Barclays Capital U.S. Aggregate Bond Index Tracker) 7) Fidelity Mid Cap Enhanced Index (FMEIX) (Tracks Mid Cap Companies) DISCLAIMER: Charles Cotton, including but not limited to any guests appearing in his videos, are not financial/investment advisors, brokers, or dealers.
