ArcBest announced that the Tesla Semi successfully completed a three-week pilot program in California and Nevada, operated by its ABF Freight division. The Class 8 electric truck logged 4,494 miles—averaging 321 miles per day—and delivered an energy efficiency of 1.55 kWh per mile. The vehicle ran routes between Reno and Sacramento, throughout the Bay Area, and handled rail shuttle operations. Notably, the electric semi was said to demonstrate reliable performance across various routes, including the demanding 7,200-foot climb over Donner Pass, and generally matched the capabilities of diesel trucks. Drivers praised the Semi’s comfort, safety, and ease of use, citing its center seat, wide visibility, and intuitive controls.
