After years of an uncertain future for Western Pennsylvania’s steel industry, U.S. Steel workers gathered in Braddock on Aug. 2 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Edgar Thomson Works — filled with optimism and a clear path forward. The milestone comes after the multibillion-dollar sale of U.S. Steel to Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel Corp. last month, marking an end to years of negotiations and providing what many workers see as job security for themselves and future generations.
