I have been scuba diving at the Pipeline, the famous surf spot on the north shore of Oahu every summer for the last ten years to monitor the health of the coral reef. In 2012 the corals were healthy and there was a lot of fish. By 2019 the corals had all died and most of the fish are gone. We have scientific evidence that the reef died to an underwater US Navy submarine weapons training program in the area. I am a professional marine biologist and surfer and am very concerned about these changes to the reef that can effect the quality of the wave and also cause beach erosion.
