Index Funds are a fantastic way to enter the stock market. An index fund is a type of fund which attempts to mirror the return of an index. It is made up of multiple stocks and bonds that look to copy the particular market you are investing into. Index funds can be purchased on most exchanges and are low cost, and extremely diversified. Index funds are looked after by computers so have extremely low expense ratios. They are, in my opinion, one of the best ways to buy into the market. It is statistically proven that index funds out perform 80% of managed funds.
