In 1983, David Foster released his first single, "The Best of Me", from the album of the same name. This version did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1985, Kenny Rogers covered the song on his "The Heart of the Matter" album. This version was not released as a single, but David Foster did play on it. The arrangement was the same. Then, in 1986, David Foster re-recorded the song, this time as a duet with Olivia Newton-John. This version did chart, reaching #80 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #6 on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. I recently came across a video where someone attempted to combine the Kenny Rogers and Olivia Newton-John/David Foster versions to create a trio. This video was quite old, so it did not take advantage of AI voice separation. I decided to create my own version using the software we have now. My version starts out with each of them singing by themselves, occasionally with one of the others joining in. By the end of the first verse, the three are singing together. This was a pretty simple edit, considering the arrangements and timing of both versions are largely the same. However, I was happy with the result and wanted to share. I hope you enjoy!
