Before you optimize, read the Missing Manual to LinkedIn Success here: http://careerenlightenment.com/missing-manual-linkedin-success There's a lot of blog posts and articles about LinkedIn Profile Optimization and it's actually really important to get that right. If I were to tell you how to optimize your profile in 30 seconds or less, these are the 3 things that I would say you need to do. 1. Have a picture Just have a picture. It increases the likelihood of getting found by something like 7%. 2. Think about your keywords Go out there and look at LinkedIn profiles of people who you admire, who you think are good profiles who are getting found. And then, look at the words that they're using. Grab those words and put them into your headline, your summary, your experiences and all of the important parts of your LinkedIn profile. And that will help with visibility and optimization. 3. Your Skills The final part with LinkedIn is often the most misunderstood part and that is your skills. People would often wait for their friends and their LinkedIn connections to give them endorsements for skills so they're not really in control of what skills to show up on their profile. Well, I think that skills are incredibly important because recruiters and their recruiting product are using skills to find talent. Therefore, think about what skills you're adding to your profile and which ones you're asking endorsements for. So again, if you follow these three simple things, your picture, your keywords and the skills you choose for your headline, I think you'll find that you'll get the results that looking for from your LinkedIn Profile.
