To update WP plugins log into your WordPress admin area and then click on Plugins in the left hand menu. On the next page you will be shown a list of plugins. The ones that require updates will be highlighted in orange. You can get more information about the update by clicking on "View version details" or you can click on Update Now to get right to business. You can also see update details in the WordPress plugin directory. The WordPress plugin upgrade process is done automatically after you click the link. You will see an onscreen message if the update was successful. Or, if things went sideways, WordPress will tell you that the plugin could not be activated due to a fatal error. Or, if things went really poorly, your website will be broken and you may see raw PHP code at the top of the page. If you see raw PHP code at the top of the page quickly deactivate the plugin and that should fix the problem. That's all there is to updating WordPress plugins via the WordPress plugin panel.
