Way back in year 2017, I did MG passenger train journey connecting Mavli to Marwar and I was very much surprised as well as shocked to see large number of unmanned railway crossings in the route. Though most of these unmanned railway crossings are in remote villages , there are a few unmanned crossings in some major towns in this route. Due to the absence of level crossing gates, the LP/ALP slow down the train, honk continuously as they approach the level crossing (LC) gate and furiously accelerate after crossing the LC. I am pretty sure it's a challenging job for the engine crew as it is concerned with passenger safety. As far as i remember there are atleast 50-60 unmanned LC gates in the route with maximum being between Mavli Junction and Kamil Ghat. The Mavli Marwar section was chosen among the 5 meter gauge stretches which the Indian Railways planned to keep as heritage route. However, from last few months, this route has been closed - Not sure when may it open again for active rail traffic!!
