Donald Trump’s allies have accused President Biden of escalating the war in Ukraine by authorising the first use of American-supplied long-range missiles by Kyiv’s forces for strikes deep inside Russia. The weapons, with a range of nearly 200 miles, are initially likely to be employed against Russian and North Korean troops who are fighting Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region of western Russia, US media reported. Officials said the authorisation to use US-made ATACMS missiles, long-discussed in Washington and pleaded-for in Kyiv, was a response to at least 10,000 North Korean troops being moved to support Russian forces on the border with Ukraine.
